Denise Richards stopped by Chelsea Lately on Monday to promote her new ABC Family series Twisted, but the conversation quickly turned to the topic of pigs. (Yes, actual pigs, not any of the star's exes.)

"You had pigs at one time," host Chelsea Handler noted before inquiring: "You don't have them anymore?"

"Well, they got to be about 300 pounds, so my house wasn't really ideal for them, so they're on a nice little farm now," Richards explained. "They were supposed to be little pot bellies and they weren't."

When asked if someone had lied to her about what kind of pigs they were, the 42-year-old actress said, "Yeah."

"Aw, it must have been Charlie Sheen," Handler replied sympathetically in reference to Richards' former spouse.

Of course, if he is to blame, it certainly hasn't put a damper on Richards' relationship with Sheen.

"In the last few years, things have gotten really good with us," the Twisted star told HuffPost Live last month. "We're very close and we're good friends, which is great because it's great for our kids."

Richards added that it was, of all things, Sheen's split from his other ex-wife, Brooke Mueller, that helped bring them closer together.

"This is awful to say, but it's true. When his third marriage started to fall apart, he and I started to become friendly," said Richards.

"From day one, I've always wanted to keep the kids a priority and suck it up for them, but it takes two people to do that. He sees the benefit, too, that when we get along, it's good for the kids. It's not fair to them to be around parents who can't stand each other."

Speaking of Mueller, Richards was recently granted temporary custody of Sheen's twin boys, Bob and Max, while their mother continues to be treated for addiction to prescription drugs. Richards and Sheen themselves have two children together, daughters Sam and Lola.

No wonder Handler told Richards she's "one of the best ex-wives ever."
