Everybody loves a man (or woman) in uniform, especially when your favorite celeb is the one dressed to impress.

In countless blockbusters on the big and small screen, Hollywood's best have turned up the heat with their professional looks.

Several actors including AlexanderSkarsgård and Will Smith have exchanged suits and ties for camouflage and weapons as members of the United States military.

Others have channeled firefighters, police officers and other law enforcement officials on the front lines.

Benjamin McKenzie had a mission to protect and to serve his residents in the drama Southland, while Billy Baldwin and Kurt Russell's main duty was to put out destructive fires in the movie Backdraft. Boy, did they look good doing it too!

Other stars have been able to have a bit more fun while on duty. Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill didn't always follow the rules in 21 Jump Street. Just because Joe Jonas was dressed as a member of the New York Police Department for his 3-D movie didn't mean he had the power to arrest citizens. Finally, police officer Chris O'Dowd couldn't keep things 100 percent professional with Kristen Wiig in Bridesmaids.

Men certainly aren't the only ones who have enjoyed some time in uniform. Ladies on the screen have never been afraid to fight, protect and serve their communities and country.

Demi Moore provided some much needed girl power with her role as a lieutenant commander in A Few Good Men. Showing bravery and commitment to her country, Meg Ryan was up for a Medal of Honor as an Army captain in Courage Under Fire.

Some names were a bit, shall we say, surprising to watch. Who could have imagined Jessica Simpson enlisting in the army in the movie Private Valentine? Yes, this is the same girl who didn't know the difference between tuna and chicken. But to be fair, the movie was meant to be a fun comedy.

Plus, Rihanna made her big-screen debut as a sailor in Battleship. With the weapons she controlled, we wouldn't want to mess with the "Diamonds" singer either!

In honor of the Fourth of July, it's a great time to look back at all the hot stars dressed in uniform.
