Holy Holmes!

Elementary is expanding the family in season two, introducing a sibling of Sherlock Holmes (Jonny Lee Miller) when the CBS drama returns on Sept. 26. Rhys Ifans has been cast as Mycroft Holmes, Sherlock's older brother, who will first appear in the season-two premiere. The Amazing Spider-Man star will recur throughout the season.

So what brings the estranged Holmes boys back together?

Filmed on location in London, the season premiere will find Sherlock revisiting an old case in England, accompanied by Joan (Lucy Liu). The duo ends up crashing with Mycroft, at 221B Baker Street, even though the brothers had a falling out years earlier and will be forced to deal with the rift between them during Sherlock's stay.

"I could not be more excited to have Rhys coming aboard," Elementary creator Robert Doherty said in a statement. "I've always been a tremendous fan and feel very honored to have him in the fold. Equally excited are Jonny and Lucy, both of whom have worked with Rhys in feature films. I think this is going to be a lot of fun for all of us."

Aside from his work in films such as Notting Hill and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, Ifans starred alongside Miller in Love, Honour and Obey and opposite Liu in Hotel.

Elementary returns Thursday, Sept. 26 on CBS.
