Leave it to Anna Wintour to save her very first tweet for a monumental moment.

The Vogue editor-in-chief took to the magazine's official Twitter account today to share her thoughts on the Supreme Court ruling, letting it be known she supports same-sex marriage.

"Today's rulings are a big step forward for all Americans striving to achieve equality. I couldn't be happier or more proud. —A.W." the 63-year-old fashionista wrote.

This morning, the Defense of Marriage Act, or DOMA, was ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court, ensuring same-sex couples will now have access to the same federal benefits and equal protection as heterosexual partners.

The Supreme Court also dismissed a defense case for Proposition 8, meaning gay marriage will once again be legal in California.

The Golden State joins 13 other states that have legalized gay marriage, including Connecticut, Iowa, Vermont, New York, Delaware, Rhode Island, Minnesota, Washington, Maryland, New Hampshire, Maine,  Washington, D.C. and Massachusetts—the first state to approve same-sex marriage in 2004.

But Wintour isn't the only celeb to share her thoughts on the historic ruling (although she may be the first to save her very first tweet for the subject!).

President Obama called to congratulate Proposition 8 plaintiffs, Kristen Bell proposed to Dax Shepard on Twitter and a slew of stars took to social media in honor of the news.

"Goodbye #DOMA #Prop8. Hello #equality," Ben Affleck tweeted, while Demi Lovato wrote, "Gay, straight, lesbian, bi.. No one is better than any one else. What an incredible day for California AND for equality."

Leonardo DiCaprio also weighed in, "Historic day. Well done #SCOTUS," and Jesse Tyler Feguson wrote, "Victory for marriage in California as #Prop8 is struck down. Small but substantial steps toward #MarriageEquality for all!"

In other Wintour news, rumors were swirling the fashion mogul was responsible for Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's baby name North West after Anna expressed her approval for the unique moniker while Kim was still pregnant.

The couple dined at Anna's NYC home on the eve of the 2013 Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Perhaps Wintour can weigh in with her next tweet?
