Same-sex couples are obviously rejoicing the United States Supreme Court's decision on Wednesday to declare the federal gay marriage ban unconstitutional and dismiss a defense of Proposition 8, the 2008 ballot measure in California that outlawed same-sex marriage.

Case in point. Singer Melissa Etheridge and her partner Nurse Jackie creator Linda Wallem. The two announced that they are now going to tie the knot.

"It is about family and I love my kids," Etheridge told CNN's Ashleigh Banfield. "I called my fiancée. I'm looking forward to marrying my partner of three years. I'm going to get married in the state of California. I woke [the kids] up this morning telling them the Supreme Court ruling on DOMA."

Etheridge continued, "Love is love and America is beautiful. It's a wonderful day...for America, for all its citizens, for our amazing constitution. And just God bless America and the forefathers that put this sort of document in place and could withstand this sort of questioning and sort of putting to test our diversity in America and our civil rights. It's just an amazing, amazing day. I'm proud to be an American."

Of course, Etheridge and Wallem are not the only famous same-sex duos who are no doubt celebrating the ruling that now makes gay marriage legal in 12 states—California, Connecticut, Iowa, Vermont, New York, Delaware, Rhode Island, Minnesota, Washington, Maryland, New Hampshire and Maine—along with Washington, D.C.

After all, there's also Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka, Sara Gilbert and Linda Perry, Elton John and David Furnish as well as Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi

Just to name a few.

Meanwhile, other celebs have taken to Twitter to react to the big news.
