It looks like baseball legend Joe Torre may have passed his catching skills on to his daughter.

While sitting at a Brooklyn cafe on Wednesday, 44-year-old Cristina Torre heard someone scream that a baby was dangling from a fire escape and immediately placed herself below the 1-year-old boy.

"All of a sudden it slipped," Cristina told New York's NBC 4. "I was still talking to 911 and I just put out my arms and, literally, it was effortless...He landed in my arms."

Cristina's father said he "got goosebumps" when he learned what his daughter had done.

"The kids are our future, and when you get a situation where the good Lord puts you in a position where you're there, and a child's life is in your hands, literally, it feels good to me. I know it did for her," Joe told NBC 4.

As for the boy, the New York Police Department said he is in stable condition after hitting his mouth on the way down. Following the incident, the child's parents were arrested and charged with reckless endangerment after it was determined that the toddler had wandered out the window while they were sleeping.
