It seems like breaking bad news through texting is the new trend.

First Katy Perry revealed that Russell Brand broke the news that he was filing for divorce via text message, and now an Anger Management source exclusively reveals to E! News that Selma Blair learned she was dropped from the show after receiving a text message from star Charlie Sheen. Though he doesn't really have the authority to make firing decisions, Sheen knows that the show, which received a 90-episode order from FX after its first season, can't go on without him, the insider says.

But a source tells E! News exclusively that Blair, who departed the FX sitcom after reportedly complaining about Sheen to producers, "really had no problem leaving after Charlie flew off the handle and seems to be at peace to be off the show."

Our source continues, It would have been much harder to stay," describing the situation as "awkward and toxic for everyone."

The feud between Sheen and Blair "went down very fast," our source says, adding that the former Two and a Half Men star "went full throttle into getting her off the show immediately" when he learned that she had complained about his tardiness and work ethic.

The show is currently looking to hire a new female lead to replace Blair, but the newbie will not be playing a therapist like her character Kate, who was Sheen's character's therapist on the show and the two shared a "friends with benefits" relationship.

Production had recently resumed on Anger Management's second season and Blair tweeted her co-star on June 10, saying, "Thanks for a great day back @charliesheen. You looked pretty darn handsome."

After news of her exit broke, Blair simply tweeted, "I thank you for support and love."

Sheen has yet to comment on Blair's departure.
