Ikon Pictures Ltd./Rex / Rex USACelebrity chef Nigella Lawson and her husband Charles Saatchi are making headlines.
The duo's names can be spotted on numerous articles after learning that Lawson "has left the house" she shares with the advertising bigwig and art collector following an alleged choking incident between the couple at a restaurant in London.
But you may wonder who exactly are Nigella Lawson and Charles Saatchi?
Here are five tidbits about the British pair...
1. She's Loved Before: In 1992, Lawson married journalist John Diamond, who became the father of her two children, Cosima Thomasina and Bruno Paul. Diamond was diagnosed with throat cancer in 1997, and died of the disease in March 2001. He was 47.
One of his last messages to to his wife was, "How proud I am of you and what you have become. The great thing about us is that we have made us who we are."
His death occurred during the filming of Lawson's TV cooking show Nigella Bites. "I took a fortnight off. But I'm not a great believer in breaks," Lawson explained. After his death, Lawson kept all of the press clippings in what she called her "Morbidobox."
2. Saatchi Was a Friend of Diamond's: The advertising mogul actually knew Lawson's late husband. In fact, they were pals. The trio, along with Saatchi's former wife Kay Hartenstein, even shared a villa together in Tuscany.
Nigella and Charles began spending more time together in the time leading up to Diamond's death, which triggered a decent amount of publicity.
"I didn't have a relationship with Charles," Lawson explained during a 2002 interview.
"I mean, I had a relationship with him that was quite a close one, but it wasn't a sexual one. People often say to me, 'Did [John] want you to go to Charles afterwards?' and I don't know. He certainly wanted me to remarry. But, to be honest, when people die they detach themselves from life, they don't sit there thinking about the future that doesn't include them."
3. Charles Saatchi, Frigid? Never, Says Nigella: Clearly, the duo's relationshp grew into something more than friendship and the couple married in 2003.
So what did she love about Saatchi? "He's full of life and very clever and funny and very cozy. Just a nice north London boy," Lawson said.
And when asked about Charles' reputation for being "frigid," Nigella responded, "No, not at all. I couldn't be with anyone like that."
4. Nigella Acknowledged Charles' Temper: Frigid? Maybe not, but Lawson didn't shy away from sharing that her hubby can get heated.
In an interview in 2007, Lawson spoke of the couple's contrasting temperaments, describing Saatchi as an "exploder" and herself as a "festerer," according to The Independent. She said, "I'll go quiet when he explodes, and then I am a nest of horrible festeringness."
5. The Wedding Was Very Simple: Although both are high-profile celebs with a chunk of change in the bank, the duo decided to wed secretly with a very small ceremony at their London mansion for their 2003 nuptials.
Nigella wore a long, flowing black gown while her beau chose a casual white shirt and baggy trousers as his wedding outfit. Only a handful of friends attended. There were no flowers and the only food made was by Lawson herself. She put some of the leftovers in a cooler bag, which the couple took with them on their honeymoon jet.
"I'm aware that I've moved quickly, moving in with Charles and everything," Nigella said in an interview. "But you just have to do these things when they feel right, even if the logic's not apparent to others."
