Brett Cohen, known for his "Fake Celebrity Pranks New York City" YouTube stunt last year, was in New Jersey to spend Father's Day weekend with his pops, Bobby, when the duo came across a frazzled young woman rushing into the Revel Resort with a bunch of bags.
"I had no idea who she was. She was carrying a bunch of bags. It's not like she was running from anyone. No one recognized her," Cohen tells E! News.
"Then I was like, 'I wonder if that is Amanda Bynes because I have been seeing her in the media.' She had to stop because she had to show her room key to the security guard at the elevator bank. She seemed like she was in a rush."
Intrigued by the sighting, Bobby decided to snap a picture of the former child star on his cell phone.
"A few minutes later she came out," Brett continued. "As soon as we saw her coming my dad whipped his phone out and went a few feet back to snap a picture of her. He is probably the person who knows her the least. He just wanted to get a photo of her for the hell of it."
As you might have guessed, Bynes was not pleased.
"As soon as he took the picture she kind of stopped and said ‘Sir, I need you to delete that. You can't take pictures of me.' She kind of lunged at him to take his phone. She is trying to grab his phone from him and he starts walking away from her. She started following him and touching his shoulder trying to get his phone."
Brett's father then asked the celeb to stop following them but, according to Cohen, she wouldn't. "He said to her, ‘You are harassing me. Stop following me.'"
Revel security ultimately separated the father-son pair from Bynes, before the actress went to the front desk to complain. Cohen and his father spoke with security but were allowed to remain at the resort.
Cohen tells E! News that it seemed like Bynes wasn't well. "I feel bad for her. Everyone goes through tough times I feel bad that it's so public. It's unfortunate."
