Watch out, Fitz (Tony Goldwyn)!

Scott Foley has been promoted to series regular for Scandal's third season, E! News has confirmed. File this under: Best. Decision. Ever.

"I'm thrilled to join such a talented, enthusiastic and professional group of people," Foley said in a statement. "Shonda [Rhimes] and company have created a troupe of layered complex characters and to be able to be part of that is both exciting and humbling."

Foley first debuted as Capt. Jake Ballard in Scandal's breakout second season, and immediately became a fan favorite...or public enemy No. 1 for Fitz and Olivia (Kerry Washington) shippers when he made a play for the professional fixer. Turns out, Jake is a member of B613, a CIA Black Ops division.

Fans last saw the Grey's Anatomy and Goodwin Games star being tossed into a hole at the end of the season finale by his boss, who was revealed to be Olivia's father, when he went against orders to protect Olivia.

Guess he'll be getting out of that hole sooner rather than later!
