Boy Meets World fans, Ben Savage (aka Cory Matthews) has a message for you: Don't go into the reboot Girl Meets World expecting a reunion of your favorite '90s series!

We chatted with Savage on the red carpet at the ATX Television Festival's opening night ceremony in Austin, Texas, where he openly discussed "the struggle" Girl Meets World faces in appealing to Boy Meets World's loyal fanbase as well as a new generation of viewers.

Plus, which familiar faces can we expect to see on the new Disney series?

"That's been the struggle and that's been the challenge, to try and make sure the show honors what it was, but also appeals to a new generation," Savage says of making sure Girl Meets World appeals to longtime fans and new viewers. "We want to make sure we can do both because we're not trying to do a reunion of Boy Meets World. Boys Meets World meant a lot to a lot of people growing up and we want to give that to a new generation."

So what are Cory and Topanga (Danielle Fishel) up to these days? Well, Savage was pretty tight-lipped, but spills this: "They are excellent parents, Topanga is an excellent parent! Two kids, other than that, we're still working things out." And of watching his TV daughter Rowan Blanchard go through exactly what he went through at her age, Savage admits, "It's a little eerie, but it's also very comforting and very sweet. It's been a lot of fun."

Of course, Boy Meets World fans have been curious to know which familiar faces will be popping up on the new series and Savage says the door is open for any of his former costars to make a guest appearance. "All of them were a big part of the show and we'd love to see all of them come back," he says. "Nothing's been worked out yet, nothing's been finalized, so we're just taking it one step at time."
