"It's sort of an episode that's filled with answers for us."
No, this isn't a dream sequence; Pretty Little Liars executive producer Marlene King was drop-dead serious when she told E! News at the ABC Family hit's Paley Center event that tonight's season four premiere will give fans answers to many of their burning questions, like what—or should we say who?—is in that trunk?!
We chatted with King, Troian Bellisario, Shay Mitchell and more of PLL's hot stars to get all the details on the big reveal and season four's big bad. Plus, the girls tease a juicy flashback that's coming up!
During filming of the season three finale, "the trunk was empty because they didn't even want to tell us as the actors," Bellisario explained to us, adding that she begged King for a tiny clue. "She said, 'It's pretty much your worst nightmare.'"
So what was Bellisario's reaction when she learned the trunk reveal? "I was like, 'OK, you were totally right! This is awful!'"
And while the stars couldn't say much about the reveal, which comes seconds into the premiere, Sasha Pieterse teased, "Can I say that it was gross? It was very gross!" Janel Parrish added, "Everyone's going to scream!"
Aside from the big trunk reveal, fans can look forward to learning more about the new villain in Rosewood, with Parish telling us, "Season four is about finding out who Red Coat is."
King teased, "Red is the new black for us, and when we left last season, we were starting to realize maybe the Black Hoodie isn't the most threatening presence in the girls' lives; maybe Red Coat's the most threatening presence. This is the season we're going to find out who should we be more afraid of: Red Coat or Black Hoodie?"
Who knew fashion could be so terrifying?
