Move over, Karl Lagerfeld!
Looks like Roberto Cavalli is gunning for the Chanel creative director's reputation as the most outspoken man in fashion.
Fresh off the heels of Lagerfeld making headlines—again!—for criticizing Adele's figure, Cavalli is weighing in on Kate Middleton's style.
"A princess should be sexy," the Italian fashion designer told Vogue UK when discussing the duchess' style. "She is young, she is beautiful–I would like to create something special for her, but nothing too bold. I would like to prove to the world that Roberto Cavalli can dress a princess. Maybe I would use a print, keeping it young, sophisticated and sexy. Just because you are a queen or princess it doesn't mean you can't be sexy."
While it's not surprising that Cavalli, who is known for his head-turning animal prints and sexy silhouettes is a fan of sexy style, we were a bit surprised to hear him pushing for a pregnant woman to embrace it. We doubt risqué maternity wear would fly off the racks, whether or not it was designed with Prince William's wife in mind.
But he's not the first person to have slammed the royal; author Joan Alison Smith recently labeled her "bland," while Booker prize-winning author Hilary Mantel called her "machine-made." Ouch!
Nevertheless, Middleton definitely has her share of loyal fans. Not only does she cause clothing items to sell out regularly, but she was recently voted the UK's most influential beauty icon.
But what do you think? Should Kate adopt a sexier style?
