The normally sequin-heavy preshow, while still somewhat shimmery, was filled with more refreshingly chic yet understated choices.
So who skipped the sparkle? Nicole Kidman and Kristen Bell went with figure-hugging LBDs, Taylor Swift donned a beaded Elie Saab high-low number, Kimberly Perry and Jana Kramer opted for lace gowns, and Carrie Underwood showed up in an Edition by Georges Chakra short suit.
There was a bit of dazzle thanks to Kellie Pickler and Kacey Musgraves, but overall, subtle yet stunning reigned supreme last night.
