Anne Heche isn't married—or technically engaged—but boyfriend James Tupper puts a ring on it every year they're together.
On Chelsea Lately Tuesday, the Save Me star explained the jewelry perks of not saying "I do" to her longtime partner.
Chelsea Handler initially referred to Tupper as Heche's husband, then corrected herself and called him Heche's boyfriend. But the actress was fine with the formal terminology. "Well, we've been together seven years," she said. "What do you call it after that?"
"Your husband," Handler said.
"You better," Heche quipped. "Or else!"
"Or else you find somebody else," Handler offered.
"Exactly, and I wouldn't, because he gives me a ring every year," the actress said. "And, like, why get rid of that?"
Heche went on to gush about her relationship, saying, "You just date and then say, 'I can just be engaged forever,' and you get a whole bunch of rings."
She then showed Chelsea two of them, quipping, "Now I can kind of stack 'em up!"
And yep, she gets a new ring every year. "Unless I'm bad," Heche offered. "I guess? I don't know. I'll have to see what happens next year."
