George Michael is on the mend.

The British pop star, who was hospitalized last Thursday after the SUV he was riding in was involved in an accident, is said to be feeling better—but his doctors aren't taking any chances.

"I can confirm that George remains in hospital but purely as a standard precaution for observation because he suffered some bumps and cuts to his head. But he's making good progress, he's fine and he's really looking forward to getting home," a rep for Michael told Reuters.

Eyewitnesses told U.K. news outlets that Michael tumbled out of the vehicle after the crash on England's M1 motorway near St. Albans, after which he was airlifted to a trauma center in London.

"The patient was on the road when paramedics arrived," a spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service, which responded to the scene, confirmed to BBC News
