Chad Johnson is behind bars.

The former NFL star found himself locked up this morning after he appeared in a Broward County courtroom for allegedly violating probation, NBC 6 in South Florida reports.

A warrant had been issued for Johnson on May 7 because he failed to report to his probation officer regarding his domestic violence case.

In court on Monday, Johnson said he "didn't do anything on purpose" and insisted that his missed probation meeting was simply a "misunderstanding."

However, it seems Judge Kathleen McHugh wasn't convinced and ordered Johnson into Broward County Sheriff's Office custody under $1,000 bond. Prosecutors asked the judge to sentence Johnson for 60 days.

A final hearing on probation violation has been set for June 3.

Johnson pleaded no contest in September to misdemeanor battery stemming from a fight with his now ex-wife, Evelyn Lozada, that allegedly turned physical. He was sentenced to 12 months' probation and ordered to spend 26 weeks in battery-intervention counseling.
