Tim Lambesis' world has been rocked upside down.

The As I Lay Dying singer pleaded not guilty today to one count of solicitation of murder after being accused of hiring an undercover detective to kill his estranged wife, according to San Diego County District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis.

If convicted, the 32-year-old Lambesis could end up in prison for nine years. The Christian-metal artist remains behind bars in lieu of $3 million bail since being arrested Tuesday in Oceanside, Calif.

Should he bail out, he's been ordered to stay away from wife Meggan, who filed for divorce last September, and their three adopted children. He also must submit to GPS monitoring and cannot leave San Diego except to meet with his lawyers in Los Angeles.

A readiness hearing is scheduled for June 10 and a preliminary hearing—to determine if prosecutors have enough evidence to try Lambesis on the felony charge—is on the books for July 10.

Shocked by Lambesis' arrest, his band mates wrote on their website, "There are many unanswered questions, and the situation will become clearer in the coming days and weeks. We'll keep you informed as best we can. Our thoughts right now are with Tim, his family, and with everyone else affected by this terrible situation—and with our fans, whom we love and draw strength from."
