That whole "friendship never ends" part? The Spice Girls take it pretty seriously, peeps.

Melanie Chisholm—aka Mel C, aka Sporty Spice—has come out swinging in defense of gal pals Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton, Victoria Beckham and Geri Halliwell after a report popped up Thursday claiming that the girl-power group had called it quits.

According to U.K.'s the Mirror, the quintet supposedly decided to go their separate ways when lone holdout Posh refused to play along with the group's plans to kick off a reunion tour next year.

Those allegations aren't sitting too well with Mel C, who immediately fired off an incensed, if open-ended tweet, that fans immediately linked to the Mirror story.

"Rude, inaccurate and frankly disappointing," she wrote.

She also directly tweeted the story's writer, Clemmie Moodie to share her thoughts.

"@clemmiemoodie Disgusted with your piece in the Mirror today," she exhorted.

Moodie, meanwhile, defended herself, tweeting: "I only write what I'm told. Have nothing bad to say about the Spice Girls."

The gals haven't necessary been on a roll these days: Last week, their West End musical Viva Forever closed after garnering scathing reviews.

"I am totally gutted that our wonderful show @vivaforever is coming to an end," Bunton tweeted after the news broke. "Thank you to all our amazing fans for your constant support!"
