It looks like we weren't the only ones to notice that Selena Gomez didn't wear the surprisingly controversial bindi, which she had sported for multiple live performances, in her music video for "Come and Get It."

After her video's online premiere last night, Universal Society of Hinduism president Rajan Zed—who had previously criticized the young star—released a statement expressing how pleased he was that Gomez had not included the traditional forehead decoration as part of her video wardrobe.

In fact, in a press statement obtained by E! News, Zed suggested that Gomez "seriously explore Hinduism," noting that "he or other Hindu scholars would gladly assist, if asked."

The controversy began after Gomez's debut performance of the single at the MTV Movie Awards. In addition to the inevitable backlash from the Twitterverse, Zed called her wearing of the bindi "insensitive."

"It is not meant to be thrown around loosely for seductive effects or as a fashion accessory aiming at mercantile greed," he said last month. "Selena should apologize and then she should get acquainted with the basics of world religions."

Judging by her come-hither look and sexy outfits, it at least looks like Gomez is well acquainted with the basics of what goes into a successful music video.
