Rob Kardashian got his (first) day in court over an alleged paparazzo scuffle.

After the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star was charged with two misdemeanors—one count of battery and one for petty theft stemming from his March run-in with a paparazzo outside a Beverly Hills gym—the E! star appeared in court this morning with his attorney Robert Shapiro to plead not guilty to the misdemeanor counts, according to sources.

Judge Marsha Revel permitted Kardashian to remain free on his own recognizance over the prosecutor's objections. The DA also asked that bail be set at $21,000.

Paparazzo Kassandra Perez (whose real name is Andra Viak) filed a civil lawsuit against the E! star last month, accusing him of assault, battery, theft and inflicting emotional distress and alleging that Kardashian struck Perez and took her camera card while she was snapping pics of the star.

Kardashian's next court date is scheduled for May 29 in Beverly Hills for pretrial.
