Tim Lambesis' band's name just took on a new and eerie meaning.

The As I Lay Dying frontman was arrested Tuesday in San Diego, Calif., after police uncovered a plot in which he allegedly attempted to hire an undercover detective to kill his wife, E! News confirmed.

Per Reuters, police declined to disclose details or a possible motive behind the alleged murder plot due to the ongoing investigation, but confirmed that the 32-year-old rocker was taken into custody in Oceanside.

San Diego County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Jan Caldwell said investigators got wind of the information "late last week" and acted quickly. "I believe that we averted a great tragedy," she added.

Lambesis' wife, Meggan, reportedly filed for divorce in September, and the couple supposedly have three children, whom they adopted from Ethiopia.

Lambesis' band—whose last album, Awakened, was released in 2012—had recently wrapped up a tour in Asia after making stops in Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand.

On Monday, he posted an Instagram photo of himself standing in front of a Chinese temple, along with the caption "Goodbye China. I'll be home in about 15 hours."

San Diego District Attorney spokesman Steve Walker tells E! News that Lambesis will be formally charged on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at San Diego District Court. He is currently being held in custody without bail.
