We're sensing a pattern here.

Kim Kardashian hit the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala in New York City tonight in a full-length, floral-print dress by Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy, which also outfitted her date for the night, Kanye West.

Balancing out the high neck and long sleeves? A leg-baring slit up the side, of course!

And, since you can never have too much of a bold print on punk night, the pregnant star also wore matching gloves to the event in honor of the Met's Punk: Chaos to Couture exhibit.

"I love fashion and I really am excited to see everyone's take on punk," Kim told Vogue.com on the carpet. "I know it's different for everybody...It will be really interesting for me to see what the designers and everyone else really feels about punk."

Asked if she ever had a punk phase herself, Kim said...she did not.

"I really didn't. That's why I think Riccardo's version of punk for me is not probably, you know, the mohawk, typical punk that you would normally envision. A little bit more romantic punk."

Kim and Kanye got their sartorial motors running last night at a private dinner at Vogue editor Anna Wintour's home in NYC ahead of tonight's main event.
