John Mayer Helps Build Homes for Military Veterans in Louisiana

John Mayer is getting his do-gooder on.

The 35-year-old singer headed to Shreveport, La. last week to help build homes for military veterans.

Wearing a blue button-down shirt with a blue bandana around his head, Katy Perry's ex got physical while spending the day helping out with the charitable project.

Mayer lent a hand by painting the outside of brand-new homes alongside locals.

The do-gooder project was made possible by Mayer's friend, Pink Floyd founder Roger Waters, and the Bob Woodruff Foundation.

Meanwhile, his former flame Perry was getting political at the 2013 White House Correspondents' Dinner in Washington, D.C. over the weekend. The brunette beauty was snapped mingling with A-list guests like Sofia Vergara.
