Beyoncé and 4 Other Celebrity Caped Crusaders

Sometimes it's not enough to simply be a superstar; celebs want to be superheroes too.

Case in point: Beyoncé. The Grammy winner wasn't satisfied with simply wowing the world with her killer voice, sexy dance moves and wild nipple costumes. Now she's adding a sequin Givenchy cape to her Mrs. Carter Show tour wardrobe. Because what's better than being Queen B? Being a badass caped crusader, of course.

The "Bow Down" singer isn't alone in her quest for Superman status. Plenty of celebs have donned cloaks, and not just to keep warm during the winter months. Here are four other iconic moments where celebs hit the red carpet draped in a cape.

1. The White Knight: Probably the most famous use of a cape on the red carpet in recent years is Gwyneth Paltrow's Tom Ford number. Why was it such a big deal? The actress didn't do it at just any event; she took the risk on Hollywood's biggest night: the Oscars.

2. Hue-ray for Jen!: Maybe Jennifer Hudson is still getting style advice from André Leon Talley? She certainly seems to be stealing one part of her pal's signature look, namely an attention-grabbing cape. Although dramatic, the cloak did add a cheerful splash of color to her all-black ensemble.

3. The Witching Hour: Superheros aren't the only ones to accessories with capes. Witches and vampires all famously draped themselves in dark cloaks too. Indeed, it seems Lana Del Rey took a page from the villain style guide when she arrived at the 2012 Met Gala in with this vampy yet glam combo.

4. Magic Time: Capes aren't just for the ladies! Rapper Macklemore attended his first MTV Movie awards in a cloaked number that was reminiscent of a magician's costume with a bit of matador flair. Perhaps he scored it at the thrift shop.
