Despite the tragedy that struck the Boston marathon less than a week ago, runners continued with their plans to race in London, and Prince Harry was there to award them just as planned

The young royal appeared at today's London Marathon to support the 36,000 runners heading toward the finish line.

Harry told BBC News that missing the event was "never an option as far as I was concerned," and continued to note that, "Everyone that was planning on coming is still here. No one's changed any plans."

However, those who attended the London marathon paid tribute to Boston with a 30-second moment of silence in honor of those who didn't finish their race, according to CNN.

"The way that Boston has dealt with it has been absolutely remarkable," Prince Harry told the BBC. "It's never going to get anyone down here...everyone comes together."

Kate Middleton's brother-in-law and Sir Richard Branson posed with women's champion Priscah Jeptoo of Kenya and men's champion Tsegaye Kebede of Ethiopia and their trophies after winning their respective races.
