New Thor: The Dark World Poster: Chris Hemsworth Is Electric in Superhero Sequel

Aussie hunk and his hammer are on display in the first official promo poster

It's hammer time!

Chris Hemsworth is back and as Norse-godlike as ever in the brand-new poster for Thor: The Dark World.

Sparks are literally flying as the Aussie hunk, fresh from sharing the superhero stage in The Avengers, wields his thunder-inducing hammer in the name of justice.

The sequel to the Marvel hit Thor started shooting in September with director Alan Taylor behind the camera.

Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Idris Elba, Ray Stevenson, Kat Dennings, Stellan Skarsgård and more are back from the original, while Zachary Levi and Christopher Eccleston, playing the villainous Malekith, are just joining the franchise.

And if this poster is getting you psyched, take comfort in the knowledge that the film's first trailer is due out Tuesday. 

Thor: The Dark World touches down in earthly theaters on Nov. 8.
