Julia Louis-Dreyfus' Veep met the real deal last week.

And the thesp turned up on Thursday night's Chelsea Lately to recount what went down when she accepted Vice President Joe Biden's invitation to have lunch with him at the White House.

"It was an absolute gas to be there, and he was very affable and nice and it was nice of him to take time to meet," Louis-Dreyfus told host Chelsea Handler.

The Seinfeld alum joked that one thing she didn't expect was how closely Biden's staff actually followed her HBO comedy series, in which she plays fictional Vice President Selina Meyer.

"The whole staff watched the show and they were identifying with the characters. It was just bizarre," she said.

The luncheon marked the first time Louis-Dreyfus has met Biden since he assumed the second-in-command post, though the two have encountered each other before. In 2008, both appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show when the then-Senator and VP candidate dunked the actress in a dunking machine to help raise money for the the funnylady's Ellen for the Cure charity (watch the clip here).

Veep kicked off its second season earlier this month.
