While debate rages on as to whether or not male professional athletes should come out as gay, women have already decided for themselves: Yes, they should. And no, it doesn't matter.

Brittney Griner, the No. 1 draft pick in the WNBA, sat down with Sports Illustrated's Maggie Gray and fellow basketball players  Elena Delle Donne and Skylar Diggins, where talk eventually turned to sexuality and sports.

"Being one that's out, it's just being who you are. Again, like I said, just be who you are," Brittney, who is openly gay, explained. "Don't worry about what other people are going to say, because they're always going to say something, but if you're just true to yourself, let that shine through. Don't hide who you really are."

On whether or not it was a tough decision to come out, Griner explained, "It really wasn't too difficult; I wouldn't say I was hiding or anything like that. I've always been open about who I am and my sexuality...If I can show that I'm out and I'm fine and everything's OK, then hopefully the younger generation will definitely feel the same way."

And Griner has the full support of the WNBA behind her, it seems.

"In our sport, we're fine with it. We're all friends, and I want everybody to be who they are," Elena Delle Donne told SI. "You shouldn't have to lie, that's not fair. Hopefully the men can one day adopt that same attitude that we have."

Gentlemen, the ball is in your court.
