No, Jamie Foxx isn't going all Avatar on us.
The first photo of the Django Unchained star as Spidey's arch-enemy Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has just hit the Web.
And by the looks of that aqua blue skin, not to mention those veins popping out of his very thick, bulging neck, this baddie means business.
Foxx sported the electrifying guise while filming scenes in New York's Times Square.
The Oscar winner had previously dropped hints about the makeover, telling BlackFilm in December that Peter Parker's iconic adversary would forgo his signature green and yellow lightning-themed costume from the comics in favor of a new hue.
"It will be a different color," Foxx said at the time. "[The producers] want to try new things, like a liquid rubber and things like that, and there are all these bolts and stuff in my arms when they are hanging me upside down and trying to figure out what happened. How did he become this way? So it will be some new stuff."
Electro, aka Maxwell Dillon, is an aspiring electrical engineer with an inferiority complex who goes to work as a lineman when he's struck by lightning. The freak accident gives him the power to harness electricity, which, alas, he puts to sinister use when he goes rogue and embraces a life of crime.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which will be shooting in the Big Apple for the next several months, unspools on May 2, 2014.
