Geri Halliwell apparently got some heat for heaping praise on the late Margaret Thatcher.

In the wake of the former U.K. prime minister's passing on Monday, the Spice Girls star tweeted her reaction.

"Thinking of our 1st Lady of girl power, Margaret Thatcher, a green grocer's daughter who taught me any thing is possible...x," she wrote, according to the Huffington Post.

However, Halliwell subsequently deleted the tweet after it generated some negative feedback from folks who evidently didn't share the same opinion.

"I'm sorry if I offended u. X," the singer later added.

Meanwhile, a new biography on Thatcher, titled Margaret Thatcher: The Authorized Biography, Volume One: Not for Turning, will be released after her funeral, which is reportedly scheduled for next week.

According to NPR, the book, written by Charles Moore, was actually commissioned in 1997 with Thatcher's approval, but the agreement was that it would not be published during her lifetime.
