Demi Lovato is all for risking her heart in the name of love.

And, judging by her brand-new video for "Heart Attack," enjoying its world premiere today right here and on E! News, she's willing to take the plunge for fashion, too.

"Puttin' my defenses up, 'cause I don't wanna fall in love; If I ever did that, I think I'd have a heart attack," the 20-year-old star sings in the first single off her forthcoming album, Demi, the edgy look she adopted in the Chris Applebaum-directed video merely a front for the hard-core romantic inside.

And the oil...well, that's for kicks!

"I think for fans or friends or anybody who's afraid to fall in love, I'd rather live my life with my arms open than closed off the entire time," Lovato exclusively tells E! News.

"I like to get my hopes up and if something disappoints me—oh, well! You know what I mean, it's life and at least I'm able to feel that emotion. I'm thankful I can even cry! Some people can't even cry, so you just have to be able to take that risk and it all depends on the person you wanna fall in love with."

We wouldn't even begin to try to argue with that. Demi, Lovato's fourth studio album, drops May 14.
