Alexander Skarsgård is best known for playing sexy vamp Eric Northman on True Blood, but according to the good-looking star, he doesn't care about being a sex symbol.

The handsome HBO hunk recently sat down with E! News to discuss his upcoming flick Disconnect, as well as his loyal True Blood fans and their obsession with his sexiness.

And no surprise, his humble attitude only makes him that much hotter.

"Honestly, I don't think too much about it," the 36-year-old actor said when asked about the intense TB fandom. "I think if vanity becomes a part of who you are as an actor…it's important that you let yourself be true to the character."

The Straw Dogs star continued, explaining how he focuses on the role itself, not the public's perception.

"If you're vain and you're like, ‘Oh my fans won't like it if I'm a little chubby or if I'm pale or if I look older than I really am, I'm not doing my job then.'"

Solid point. But we still love seeing A.Skars shirtless.

"I'm an actor, not a sex symbol," he added.

Somehow, we'd like to think he can be both.
