American Idol is getting down to brass tacks.

Following performances by Carrie Underwood, who debuted her new single "See You Again," and heartthrobby season-nine finalist Casey James, the field was mercilessly whittled down to six.

And, once again, Jimmy Iovine's prediction did not come true.

The record producer foresaw an exit for the faltering Lazaro Arbos after his uneventful rendition of Queen's "We Are the Champions." But not only was the fan favorite safe, he actually replaced the stalwart Candice Glover in the top three!

Don't worry, Candice was also perfectly safe along with Kree HarrisonAngie Miller and Amber Holcomb (the judges' unanimous favorites from last night), but Lazaro's ascension caused a double-take.

So, that left Janelle Arthur and Burnell Taylor in the bottom two, after which Burnell was revealed to be on the very bottom. For the record, no girl who made it into the top 10 has been sent home yet and Lazaro is the last man standing.

"We love you," Randy Jackson reassured Burnell after revealing that the season's one save would remain unused.

Are you surprised that Burnell got the boot? It's pretty much a given that a girl is going to win Idol this year, right? Sound off in the comments!
