HBO has announced a premiere date for True Blood's sixth season: Sunday, June 16. Additionally, AMC, who revived The Killing from the cancellation graveyard, will premiere season three on Sunday, June 2.
"I am grateful to AMC, Fox TV Studios and Netflix for their commitment to the show and their efforts in bringing The Killing back to air," series creator Veena Sud said in a statement. "I'm also thrilled to be working with our incredible writing team as we continue to explore the lives of Sarah and Holder, who, like so many real-life detectives, grapple with the consequences to their own lives of a no-holds-barred immersion in the world of a homicide investigation."
Added Charlie Collier, president and general manager of AMC: "We learned so much from the first two seasons of The Killing and are thrilled to be bringing it back with the elements that the fans loved. Veena's captivating storytelling along with the performances of Joel [Kinnaman] and Mireille [Enos], and the rest of the exemplary cast, will remind audiences of what they loved about the series and provide a season of suspenseful television."
The third season of The Killing will focus on a new case, and the network promises that unlike the Rosie Larsen mystery, this case will be resolved by the end of the 10 episodes.
A first look trailer for True Blood's sixth season will air Sunday just before the Game of Thrones season premiere on HBO.
