NBCDebra Messing is ready to squash those pesky rumors surrounding the Smash set.
The stunning star—who recently partnered with Zyrtec to help highlight the beauty challenges that go hand in hand with allergies—took a moment to chat with E! News about the Broadway-based television show and the rumors the TV drama will not be returning for a third season (NBC has yet to make any announcements on the future of the series).
"Oh my gosh, I haven't heard any of those rumors!" she exclaimed when asked about the supposed drama on set amid rampant cancellation reports. "It is a glorious place to work and everyone really gets along fabulously, so you might have insiders giving you information that I'm not privy to."
She continues, discussing the show's potential for a third season, "If we come back for a season three, I'm sure that the creative discussions have yet to be had about what that season three would look like," while adding that she and her costars "don't know" if the season finale will be the show's last episode.
As for her reaction to the show's Saturday time slot shift? Messing admits she was a bit disappointed, but maintains a positive outlook on the TV timing switch.
"You know there was no tension or anything," she says of the ratings drop. "Obviously we were saddened that it was being moved to Saturday, but understood why it was happening, and are just really excited about seeing the rest of the season air on Saturday at 9 p.m. Now waiting to see if we have a season three coming."
So if Smash is renewed for a third season, would all the lead stars return?
"I have no reason to think they wouldn't," the former Will & Grace star admittedly states.
And despite her new commitment to a CBS comedy pilot, the actress says Smash is still her first priority.
"CBS was wonderful enough to allow me to do this in second position, so they know that if Smash comes back, that's where I will be."
