The Voice is back!

NBC's reality hit returned for its fourth season Monday night and Usher and Shakira made their coaching debut, the two superstars replacing Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green (who will be back for cycle five, NBC has said) for the season.

We already got a taste of the new coaches in a banter-filled promo for the new season, but was the magic still there in the premiere? Find out...

Turns out Christina isn't the only one who can banter with Adam Levine, as Shakira and the Maroon 5 lead singer displayed quite charming back-and-forth during the season opener. In fact, after one of their debates about a contestant's Adele-like voice, Blake Shelton told Adam, "She just ripped your ass wide open and it was awesome!"

But Blake didn't get off so easy as the "Hips Don't Lie" singer revealed she does a mighty funny impression of the country crooner!

Shakira wasn't the only newbie to make a good impression during the two-hour premiere. Usher proved to be fun and flirtatious and not above using protégé Justin Bieber's name to woo younger contestants!

Oh, and he also mistakenly called Nashville a state, prompting "Nashville is a State" to trend worldwide on Twitter!

By episode's end, Blake had three contestants on his team, Usher and Shakira each snagged two singers, while Adam's team gained one member.

E! and NBC are both part of the NBCUniversal family.

What did you think of Usher and Shakira's debut? Are you excited for this season? Sound off in the comments!
