We've got a fever and the only prescription is more scoop on the Veronica Mars movie!
It seems like Veronica Mars fever shows no signs of slowing down since creator Rob Thomas and star Kristen Bell announced their plan to bring the beloved cult hit back from the dead with a Kickstarter campaign to fund a movie. Of course, they shattered their goal of $2 million in less than 11 hours.
To celebrate the series' big screen return, Thomas and Bell answered fans' burning questions about the movie on Twitter, revealing scoop on Veronica's love life, whether or not Bell's real-life beau Dax Shepard would appear and what the heck Logan's (Jason Dohring) been up to since the show ended...
"She will open the movie with a boyfriend," Thomas reveals of Veronica's love life. "What happens in the movie will be rough on her love life." Yikes! As for Logan, Thomas wouldn't reveal what he's been up to in the 10 years since he last saw Veronica. Hey, a man's gotta have some secrets!
Veronica will still definitely be very close with one man from her past though: Wallace (Percy Daggs III)! Thomas assures that "they are still very close." He also adds, "I sure hope Weevil will be in it. I'm counting on it." As for Veronica's first love Duncan (Teddy Dunn)? There are "unknown odds" on seeing him again, and "zero" for seeing Meg's (Alona Tal) kid.
So will Parenthood's Shepard play Veronica's new BF? No, but he will be in the movie. "I have already written the Dax cameo in the movie. It's a funny one,' Thomas says. Oh, and he wants Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester to reprise her role of Carrie Bishop!
Fans shouldn't expect to see a blast from the past courtesy of Lily Kane (Amanda Seyfried), as Thomas explains, "I will probably do my best to avoid too much mythology. Want to welcome new viewers. I'm not planning flashback to teen days."
And rest assured the series' beloved theme song "We Used to Be Friends" by The Dandy Warhols will have a place in the big screen revival: "This is a definite. Hope to do cool stuff with the song. Possibly get [lead singer] Courtney Taylor-Taylor in the movie."
While Bell doled out considerably less scoop than Thomas, she did reveal her favorite Veronica line: "Just as God made me," which was in reply to Troy's "Flat?" Oh, how we missed Veronica's witty one-liners!
