John Krasinski as Jim Halpert and Jenna Fisher as Pam on The Office is the only world we know. From the "Casino Night" kiss to the birth of their second child in season eight, their relationship has become a fixture in our small screen routine for nine seasons. But then Rainn Wilson came along and dropped an alternate universe bomb on us.

Facebook

Yesterday on his Facebook, Wilson posted a photo of the very sign in sheet from The Office auditions. "I was the very first person to audition for the series, 11/06/03. Notice all the amazing talent on the sheet, including the amazing #13! This is perhaps the greatest Office keepsake I have. So grateful for the best job I will ever have."

Wilson gave us a great little sneak peek at what The Ofice could have been. Parks and Recreation's Adam Scott auditioned for Jim, and we all know he's great at being adorably dorky. But he belongs on Parks and Rec with Leslie (Amy Poehler), so it all worked out. And can you see 24's Mary Lynn Rajskub answering the phone with the now-iconic line: "Dunder Mifflin, this is Pam"?  Because that almost happened. And Anne Dudek, aka "Cutthroat Bitch" Amber from House, read for Pam, right after Jenna Fisher.

As for the role of the great Michael Gary Scott, Rainn Wilson auditioned for the role, as did Suburgatory's Alan Tudyk and Melissa McCarthy's husband Ben Falcone. Too bad the man they went with for Michael Scott did such a poor job. Psych, we miss Steve Carell so bad it hurts at night.

What do you think of this alternative universe Office casting?
