Berry Big Hair
If you like your Halle Berry all pampered and glamorous, well, her new film The Call may not be for you. Just look at how the Internet reacted to the unflattering 'do donned by the Oscar winner in the previews.
And Ms. Berry has heard your concerns. Kinda: "I know! I don't even know what they're saying, what are they saying?" Halle asked us at the premiere of the thriller. "I look like I have a poodle on my head or what?!"
You said it, not us! So how did this curly wig come to be? "That was all my say," she continued. "I always have to get rid of this hair. This hair is so synonymous with me and I think that you have to create a character that takes the audience away from who you really are." She went on to describe the onscreen style as "pedestrian" and "kind of average."
And fear not, when we asked if this would ever be a look she'd rock in real life, she laughed and simply responded, "No."
Mark Wahlberg Slims Down for Transformers
Mark Wahlberg may be fighting some mighty big robots in the fourth Transformers movie, but that doesn't mean he's going to try to match them in muscles.
"I asked [director Michael Bay] how he wanted me to look and he said, 'Just look like yourself,'" Wahlberg said at an Aquahydrate event. "I went from 165 pounds to 212 for Pain & Gain [his upcoming bodybuilding crime comedy], but then I had to stop 30 pounds in 30 days.
"I'm playing a dad—not a heroic kind of guy," he continued. "I kind of had to step up and become a hero in my kids' eyes."
Portlandia: The Movie
Portlandia is coming to a theater near you.
Just not so soon. "In a couple of years," says Fred Armisen, who created and stars in the IFC sketch comedy show with Carrie Brownstein. "I'd love to do it," he recently told us.
But no deals have been signed. "Nothing like that," the Saturday Night Live star said. "You can never assume what could happen, but we'd like to at some point.
In the meantime, Armisen hoping to snag Sir Paul McCartney for an episode. "I love him," he said. "He's a hero of mine."
Maybe he should save a big get like that for the movie!
Oprah Gets "Real"
Oprah Winfrey is a mom—in director Lee Daniels' upcoming ensemble, Butler.
"She is my mom," says David Oyelowo, who plays Miss O and Forest Whitaker's son in the drama about a White House butler who served eight presidents over three decades. "I still call her my mom."
Forget about Winfrey, the mogul. "The combination of Oprah and Lee is a pretty exciting mix because he de-Oprahfied her," Oyelowo said. "She is America's best friends in terms of the Oprah Winfrey Show, but in this she plays a very complicated, complex lady in the '40s and '50s and on.
"She's really stripped down," he added. "It's very real."
