American Idol just got cut in half.

A whopping 10 contestants were eliminated tonight and only five ladies and five gentlemen remain.

But, in new twist, each guy and girl who made the top 10 was asked to sing a "victory song" after getting the good news. Meaning, the other 10 had to just sit there (guys in one area backstage, girls in another) while their names were not called, no one put out of his or her misery until the last name was revealed.

We're happy to give you the news in one fell swoop, however.

This year's American Idol top 10 consists of Paul Jolley, Burnell Taylor, Curtis Finch Jr., Devin Velez, Lazaro Arbos, Janelle Arthur, Candice Glover, Angie Miller (who had Keith Urban literally in tears with her take on Beyoncé's "I Was Here"), Audrey Holcomb and Kree Harrison.

While we kind of got into the whole one-contestant-at-a-time-revealed thing by the end, we still felt for the five guys and five girls who didn't even get a chance to have their journeys reminisced about in a montage due to all that extra singing.

One minute they were there and then, 90 minutes later, they weren't. So, a warm farewell to Elijah LiuCharlie AskewVincent PowellCortez Shaw, Nick BoddingtonZoanette JohnsonBreanna SteerAdriana LatonioTenna Torres and Aubrey Cleland.
