Michelle Williams Talks Balance: "There’s My Work and the Kid, Everything Else Has to Fall Away"

"I guess realizing that there is no such thing as a perfect balance, it's not like riding a bicycle, you don't want to just figure it out and stay on track," she said

Newly single Michelle Williams admits it can be hard trying to balance all of life's demands while shooting a film, and when that happens, she makes sure to focus on two priorities: work and her daughter, Matilda

"I guess realizing that there is no such thing as a perfect balance. It's not like riding a bicycle, you don't want to just figure it out and stay on track," the actress says in an interview with AnOther magazine.

"I find that when I'm working, there are only two things: there's my work and the kid. Everything else has to fall away."

News broke of Williams' split from Jason Segel late last month, a reportedly mutual situation blamed largely on the New York-to-L.A. distance between their permanent residences.

But even though Williams says that work and family were it for her while she was shooting her latest movie, Oz: The Great and Powerful, she recently told E! News that she had no work commitments "looming" for the next few months.

So maybe something else might get promoted to priority status in place of work? Just sayin'.
