Justin Bieber's 19th birthday celebration was so bad...how bad was it? Well, it isn't sounding any better as more details emerge.
As reported exclusively by E! News, Bieber and his entourage got into some kind of confrontation with security at the London club Cirque Du Soir last night. According to the club, those security folks were just trying to do their job.
Our initial story about the birthday bummer
A club source tells E! News that security thought some members of Bieber's crew looked suspiciously young when they arrived, and were asked to show their ID's. They were refused entrance because of their age which, the source says, upset Bieber.
"We, like all clubs in London, operate a strict age policy," a club spokesman tells E! News. "As a few of the members of the party were under the suitable age of 18, the security team at Cirque Du Soir, London, clearly explained this rule and refused entry to the club for anyone who could not provide us with adequate proof of age."
The spokesman adds, "Justin Bieber visits Cirque Du Soir regularly, and he and his friends are always welcome, as long the members of the group are legally old enough to enter the club. This was simply a matter of regulation that we must adhere to."
Justin Bieber shirtless!
As for when Bieber was inside, he ordered bottles for all of his friends. (The legal drinking age in Great Britain is 18.) Contrary to British tabloid rumors that Bieber threw down 10,000 pounds for the party, a club source says that figure is more around $12,000—slightly less than 8,000 pounds.
"I think Justin and his friends had a good time," an eyewitness tells E! News "He had a complete separate area in the club—and most of his guests arrived earlier. He was, of course, not amused that some of his close friends were refused entrance."
All the waiters who worked in Justin's area wore "Happy Birthday Justin" T-shirts, the eyewitness reports.
The club spokesman adds, "We are very sorry, and understand it's his birthday, but our hands are tied with local authorities and rules we need to follow as club to keep our license. We clearly didn't want to give him the 'worst birthday
.' He is a friend and previously was always welcomed with open arms."
Bieber's rep has yet to respond to requests for comment.
