Throwback Thursday: Waltzing Like a Boss

It's hard to picture freshly-minted Oscar winner Christoph Waltz as anything but a shrewd and calculating badass, after his brilliant turns in Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained. It's hard but not impossible, thanks to this clip from 1977 of a fresh-faced, 21-year-old Waltz ringing in the New Year, on the Austrian children's show At the Dam.

We're not sure why 1977 Christoph is dressed in a stripey, technicolor unitard but, hey, it was the 70s. With the benefit of hindsight, it actually seems like a good—if alarmingly snug—fit.

Magical. One YouTube description of this video, written in Dutch, translates as 'WHAT WHAT a dress and a boss hero'. Probably not the best translation but it does sum things up pretty nicely.
