Sometimes stars step out on the red carpet and they've created the perfect head-to-toe look.

While it's not really practical for us to go out and get their gowns, jewels and shoes that could clean out our bank accounts in one fell swoop, we can still create looks inspired by what our favorite stars wore.

In fact, all you really need to do is capture the essence of the ensemble, which can easily be done by copying the color combos and replicating the patterns.

One very easy way to take a red carpet look and turn it into everyday wear is with a celeb-inspired manicure.

No, we're not talking about painting your nails the same as any of the stars—although we do have tips on how to do that!—instead, we're talking about creating custom manicures that capture the overall feel of whatever they wore.

If you're stumped on where to start, we've got tips from nail artist Tom Bachik, who did Anne Hathaway and Catherine Zeta-Jones' nails for this year's Oscars.

Tom takes us through two different manicures: One inspired by Kerry Washington's red carpet Oscar ensemble and another based on what Halle Berry wore.

Check out the video above for a step-by-step on how to create these custom looks.
