Leading ladies have had us seeing spots lately! Playful sheer polka dots have popped up on the red carpet in retro-inspired ensembles that are right in keeping with the mod-inspired looks we saw on spring runways.
Rachel Weisz was ahead of the trend, hitting the 2012 Golden Globes in a lovely Louis Vuitton design featuring a mesh neckline and skirt for a look that was cheeky yet sexy. (We loved the look so much that we actually recreated it!) And speaking of sexy, Sofia Vergara spiced up her little black dress at Audi's Super Bowl party with sultry see-through cutouts and a single sleeve in the lively retro pattern.
Meanwhile, Amanda Peet and Mindy Kaling went for sweeter look, each reaching for the same Saint Laurent shift dress with a sheer polka dot illusion neckline. Peet mesmerized with monochromatic styling, including black tights and heels, while Kaling added a pop of color with fire-engine red pointy-toe boots.
And then there was Kelly Clarkson who looked absolutely adorable in a darling dress featuring a sheer sweetheart neckline and sleeves covered in tiny polka dots, while picking up a Grammy at the 2013 award show.
Clarkson may have gone home with the prize that night, but we think Weisz is the winner among this polka dot pack. Her ravishing retro side part and gorgeous curls complemented her frock's sheer polka dot print perfectly and she struck the right balance between sweet and sexy.
But we want to know what you think! Which star looks best in sheer polka dots?
