Spoiler alert! This article contains spoilers on a lot of Thursday night's shows, so click away if you've yet to watch and don't want to know what went down. Seriously, if you complain about spoilers in the comments, you are the opposite of Batman.

Happy Valentine's Day, our fellow TV lovers. Let's celebrate with a heartbreaking death, shall we?

Yes, The Vampire Diaries decided to dampen our chocolate-induced buzz by killing off a fan-favorite character in a particularly harsh fashion. Oh, and another character also said goodbye, exiting for an undetermined number of episodes.

Fortunately, it wasn't all blood and death, as Scandal didn't wait long to bring its core couple back together, Community managed to make a sex swing adorable, and Grey's Anatomy brought on the professional kind of drama.

A Heartbreaking Goodbye: Curse you, Julie Plec! Over and over, The Vampire Diaries has broken our hearts by killing off our beloved characters, and just when we thought the CW hit couldn't possibly top Alaric's (Matt Davis) death last season, they had to go and prove us wrong. Tonight, we said goodbye to one of the series' original characters: Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen), Elena's (Nina Dobrev) kid brother-turned-vampire hunter, who died at the hands of the resurrected Silas after being offered up by Katherine. (Good to see you, gurl. Except for the whole causing-Jer's-death.)

As if Jeremy's death weren't enough, fans also said goodbye to Tyler (Michael Trevino), who was forced to leave town to avoid the wrath of Klaus (Joseph Morgan). (Yes, this is the third season in a row where Tyler ran away from Mystic Falls.) And what a heartbreaking goodbye he shared with Caroline (Candice Accola), telling her, "I will live a happy life without you. I will forget all about you. And I will never, ever think about you again."

Line of the Night: "God, I forgot what a brat you are," Katherine tells Jeremy...just before biting into his neck. Yep, the bitch is back—and she stole the cure, which can only be used to de-vamp one person.

Scandal's Scandalous Sex: Give us a moment people, we're still fanning ourselves off after Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) and Olivia's (Kerry Washington) hot hookup after Cyrus' (Jeff Perry) baby-christening ceremony. (How. Dirty.) Seems like 10 months did nothing to tame the red-hot chemistry between them! Alas, Fitz will not forgive Liv for her role in rigging the election, harshly telling her, "I may not be able to control my erections around you, but that doesn't mean I want you. We are done." Way harsh, dude!

Fortunately, Olivia has one hell of a hot backup guy to call. Enter: Scott Foley, making his debut as Captain Jake Weston. While the two initially share a meet-cute in a coffee shop where they both lie about their professions, we later see Jake spying on Liv in her apartment as he's on the phone setting up a date with her. Oh, Scandal: Never stop being awesome, we beg of you.

Rocky Relationship Road Alert: Why don't you just run over our foot, The Office, because it would hurt less than the heartache Jim (John Krasinski) and Pam's (Jenna Fischer) relationship is causing us. Though Jim tries to get Pam a job in Philadelphia, she finally tells him the harsh truth: She doesn't want her life to be there.

Fall From Grace: Seattle Grace is down five doctors! Desperate to stop Pegasus from buying out the hospital, Derek (Patrick Dempsey), Meredith (Ellen Pompeo), Cristina (Sandrah Oh), Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) and Callie (Sara Ramirez) all quit their jobs on Grey's Anatomy, devastating Owen (Kevin McKidd). Though Pegasus took away their offer, the five now need to find a partner to help them buy the hospital. Also, anyone else getting bad vibes about Owen and Alana (Constance Zimmer)? Just let Owen and Cristina be happy for, like, five seconds, Shonda Rhimes!

.Gif of the Night: That would be Troy (Donald Glover) adorably swinging on the sex swing in Pierce's (Chevy Chase) mansion on Community.
