Storage Wars has suffered a very real loss.

Mark Balelo, one of the deep-pocketed buyers who frequented the storage-unit auction scene depicted on the hit A&E show, was found dead Monday at his Simi Valley, Calif., auction house, according to the Ventura County Star. He was 40.

While the Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office said that no further details were available pending completion of an autopsy on Tuesday, TMZ reports that Balelo was found dead in his car, with the motor running.

Balelo had been arrested for alleged possession of a controlled substance on Saturday and was scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 19.

He made headlines back in 2011 when he was instrumental in helping Nicolas Cage recover a mint-condition copy of the first-ever Superman comic book that had been stolen and then discovered, 10 years later, in a storage locker.
