Shocking kisses, deaths and revelations, oh my! Thursday night was filled to the brim with major drama (which a capital D), thanks to one gamechanging episode of Scandal and an unexpected smooch on Glee.
Plus, Community finally reunited us with the Greendale gang, The Office gave us a glimmer of hope as it heads for the finish line (sniff) and more...
It's Oct. 19: Community is finally back! To this we say two things: Huzzah and it's about freakin' time. We missed this little merry band of weirdos. A lot. Yes, the show did feel different without creator Dan Harmon at the helm, but it was still Community, even if it felt like it was trying a little too hard at times to be Harmon-era Community). New showrunners Moses Port and David Guarascio decided to tackle all the controversy surrounding the show by having Abed (Danny Pudi) retreat to his happy place, a multi-cam sitcom called Abed's Happy Community College Show, where Pierce (Chevy Chase, who exited the show in October) is played by Fred Willard.
And while we love Community for its patented brand of weirdness, we stay for the emotion and relationships and we teared up during Jeff's (Joel McHale) speech about change. (The whole episode was about change and fearing change and accepting change and did we mention change?!)
Line of the Night: "You are not even worth the calories I burnt talking to you," Caroline (Candice Accola), may she live forever, tells Klaus (Joseph Morgan) on The Vampire Diaries.
Glee's Controversial Smooch: Did the Fox hit just officially jump the shark? Finn (Cory Monteith) and Emma (Jayma Mays), who is busy planning a wedding that is set to happen in a week, were giving us weird vibes all episode. And clearly, we are witches, because Finn kissed Emma. First his job then his wardrobe and now his fiancée? Finn is totally Single Engaged White Female Male-ing Mr. Schuester (Matthew Morrison).
In other big non-homewrecking Glee news, the episode ended with Santana (Naya Rivera), she who secretly dropped out of college and covered the crap out of Alicia Keys' "Girl on Fire," in New York, moving in with a shocked Kurt (Chris Colfer) and Rachel (Lea Michele). Is Glee the new Girls? Discuss!
Back on Track: You guys, Jim (John Krasinski) called Pam (Jenna Fischer) "Beesly" on The Office. Beesly. Do you even understand how happy this made us?! If you don't understand as non-TV related things tend to make you happy, then we just feel sorry for whatever childhood trauma caused this. (Sadly, their promise of a fight was upstaged by Andy's [Ed Helms] hair. Or whatever that thing on his head pretending to be hair was. Poll time: Which NBC sitcom star's hair was worse: Parks and Recreation's Rob Lowe when he was filming the Drew Peterson Lifetime movie or Helms' current 'do? Duke it out in the comments!)
#Gamechanger, Indeed: What happened on Scandal? The better quesion is what didn't happen. Let's do a quick rundown, shall we? Verna (Debra Mooney) ordered the assassination attempt on Fitz's (Tony Goldwyn) life! Fitz learned that the election was rigged! And that Olivia (Kerry Washington) was behind it! Olivia was finally ready to be with Fitz, but he turned her down because of it! Oh yeah, and Fitz killed Verna! And Cyrus (Jeff Perry) almost ordered a hit on his husband's life! Phew, that was tiring. Remember, the next episode picks up 10 months later and Noel Scott Foley make his Scandal debut!
Observation of the Night: "Tom considers himself a foodie, which apparently means taking Instagrams of food instead of eating it," Ben (Adam Scott) says, dropping some truth on Parks & Recreation.
