Lena Dunham didn't Instagram her ballot in November like some people.

And now a political blog is claiming the Girls creator (who actively campaigned for the reelection of Pres. Barack Obama) did not vote at all in the 2012 presidential election.

So the 26-year-old took to Twitter to shut these claims down.

"Hey kids, some people on the internet are saying I didn't vote," she wrote. "Some of them are still mad I used a sexy metaphor re: voting."

"I did vote," she clarified. "I tried to get an absentee ballot but, because our nation's voting system is a steampunk cornmaze, it didn't arrive."

"So not to be a martyr about it but I flew to New York to vote. I wasn't sure if my change of address had officially been registered so..."

" ...I went to my old polling place with my dad, where they let me vote by affidavit (what was totally allowed.)"

Of course, she kept her sense of humor about the whole thing.

"Obviously I voted for Romney," the Democratic Party-supporting star quipped. "I hope everyone has a nice day."

So why the mix-up in the first place?

A representative for the New York State Board of Elections told E! News they could not locate Dunham's record in the state database, but a number of factors could explain this. First, residents of areas affected by Hurricane Sandy (including Brooklyn) were permitted to vote by affidavit ballot at any polling place in New York State (as Lena says she did). However, due to the large number of displaced voters in NYC, not all voters have been credited with participating in the election. So as this point, the BOE cannot provide a definitive answer on whether Lena voted.

That said, we totally believe her.
